A solar own generation surpassed the brand of 28GW in power installed operational in residences, trades, industries, properties rural It is public buildings at the Brazil

The survey, carried out by ABSOLAR (Brazilian Association of Photovoltaic Solar Energy), showed that more than 3.5 million consumer units are already served by photovoltaic technology.

According to the entity, the country has more than 2.4 million photovoltaic systems installed on roofs, facades and small plots of land.

Since 2012, there have been more than R$ 139 billion in new investments, generating more than 840.3 thousand green jobs throughout Brazil, contributing to public coffers of more than R$ 41.7 billion.

In total, solar energy is already in 5,545 municipalities and all Brazilian states. Own solar generation on roofs, facades and small plots of land helps save on electricity bills for all electricity consumers in the country.

Too much data

When calculating the costs and benefits of so-called distributed generation, a study by specialized consultancy Volt Robotics, commissioned by ABSOLAR, concludes that the net savings on the electricity bill of all Brazilians is more than R$ 84.9 billion by 2031.

This research sought to calculate the costs and benefits of microgeneration and distributed minigeneration, in accordance with article 17 of Law No. 14,300, of January 6, 2022, which established the legal framework for the segment.

For Ronaldo Koloszuk, president of the Board of Directors of ABSOLAR, the exponential growth in self-generation of solar energy is a clear sign of the popularization of the technology in the national territory.

“Market analysts point out that, in 2023 alone, solar panels registered a drop of around 50% in the average final price, increasing attractiveness and access by Brazilian consumers of different profiles”, he comments.

“Therefore, this is the best time to invest in solar systems in homes, businesses and rural properties. And there is still enormous potential for growth in the use of photovoltaic technology, as Brazil has around 92.4 million electricity consuming units in the captive market”, he adds.

Rodrigo Sauaia, CEO of ABSOLAR, emphasizes that the growth of own solar generation increases Brazil's leading role in the geopolitics of the global energy transition.

“Photovoltaic technology also strengthens sustainability, relieves family budgets and increases the competitiveness of Brazilian productive sectors”, he explains.

“By bringing electricity generation closer to consumption locations, solar own generation reduces the use of transmission infrastructure, relieving pressure on its operation and reducing losses over long distances, which contributes to reliability and safety at critical moments”, concludes Sauaia.
