A Unigel, with the aim of presenting the Brazil's first green hydrogen and ammonia factory and discuss initiatives that contribute to industry decarbonization, announced that he will participate in the COP-27, which takes place in the city of Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.

Leo Slezynger, shareholder of Unigel, which is one of the largest chemical companies in Latin America and the largest manufacturer of nitrogen fertilizers in Brazil, will be the company's representative and will be at Espaço Brasil for the debate “Actions for the Development of the Green Hydrogen Market in Brazil”, on November 16th, at 10 am, promoted by the CNI (National Confederation of Industry).

Also participating in the panel are names such as Denise Scarpa de Albuquerque Maranhão, specialist in Corporate Relations and Regulatory Affairs at Shell; Leone Peter Correia da Silva Andrade, director of innovation and technology at SENAI/DR/BA and Jurandir Marães Picanço Júnior, Energy consultant at the Federation of Industries of the State of Ceará.

On the 17th, at 9 am, also at Espaço Brasil, the Unigel shareholder will have the opportunity to present the company's H2V (green hydrogen) factory in a discussion promoted by the MMA (Ministry of the Environment), together with Paulo Alvarenga, CEO thyssenkrupp South America; Rogério Zampronha, CEO of Prumo Logística; and Jessé Can Griensven Thé, CEO of Lakes Environmental.

According to Slezynger, Unigel arrives at COP-27 with the focus on demonstrating how Brazil has the potential to be a protagonist in the green hydrogen. “I understand that Brazil has the conditions to be the largest producer of H2V on the planet, since we have a consistent industry, privileged climatic conditions and a strong domestic market that will generate growth for suppliers even in international adversities.

The factory

The company is investing US$ 120 million (R$ 650 million), during the first phase, to build the country's largest green hydrogen plant. The plant is expected to come into operation by the end of 2023.

Located in the Industrial Complex of Camaçari (BA), the project, in its first phase, will have a production capacity of 10 thousand tons/year of H2V and 60 thousand tons/year of green ammonia, aimed at the domestic market. In the second phase of the project, scheduled to come into operation by 2025, the company is expected to quadruple the production of green hydrogen and ammonia.
