A Hitachi Energy signed a strategic agreement with the Equinor to collaborate within electrification initiatives, renewable energy generation and low carbon worldwide.

According to the companies, the partnership highlights their commitment to accelerate the energy transition and move forward with a more sustainable, flexible and secure energy system.

The agreement, in this case, is based on the collaboration between the two companies over many decades. During this time, Hitachi has provided Equinor with power grid solutions and pioneering technologies on several projects, such as Dogger Bank A, B and C, the world's largest offshore wind farm nearing completion, and Troll A, the first HVDC connection of energy in the world, from the earth.

Initial areas of focus for the collaboration include the development of standardized baseline designs to be applied for high voltage direct current (DC) and alternating current (AC) transmission systems to connect Equinor's offshore wind farms and production facilities to continent's energy networks.

“We are delighted to deepen our long-standing relationship with one of the world's leading energy companies and help Equinor achieve its ambition to become net zero by mid-century,” said Niklas Persson, managing director of the energy integration business. Hitachi Energy networks.

“Together we form a strong team that will support society to achieve the objective of the Paris Agreement and create a sustainable energy future for everyone”, he highlighted.

Geir Tungesvik, Executive Vice President of Projects, Drilling and Procurement at Equinor, reinforced that this strategic collaboration agreement is a sign of joint ambitions to increase competitiveness in the ongoing energy transition.

“Standardization of technical solutions will be a key to success, and we look forward to improving together with Hitachi Energy,” concluded Tungesvik.
