This segment was the one that reduced consumption the most last year

Of the 15 sectors of activity monitored by CCEE (Electricity Trading Chamber), the textile industry was the one that showed the biggest reduction in consumption last year. The sector ended 2022 with an average load of 671 MW, a volume 3.8% lower than in 2021.

“The result reflects a very challenging year for the segment. The international scenario impacted by the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, the lack of raw materials and high transport prices acted as a brake on national production. Lower energy consumption is a result of this”, he explains. Rui Altieri, president of the CCEE Board of Directors.

In a regional analysis, Paraíba and Minas Gerais stand out, due to the reduction of 19.9% and 14.1% in the segment's consumption, respectively. In absolute terms, São Paulo's textile industry is the most representative, however the state recorded a slight increase of 0.9% in the annual comparison.
