Despite the atypical year of 2020, the manufacturer JA Solar recorded an increase of 54.88% in the shipment of photovoltaic panels, compared to 2019, going from 10.26 GW to 15.88 GW. The data was released by the company at the beginning of the week.
“Despite the pandemic, we achieved a worldwide growth of 54,88% of modules shipped in 2020. These shipments are very close to the total capacity available at the end of the year”, comments Fernando Castro, country manager at JA Solar Brasil.
“In addition to the confidence that we are on the right path in terms of products, roadmap and strategies, this growth enables the expected return on capital, enabling new investments made in new factories and equipment”, he adds.
Also according to the manufacturer, revenue for the fourth quarter of 2020 of US$ 1.39 billion set a quarterly record for the company. Furthermore, net profit had a significant impact of US$ 32.75 million, despite the figure being lower than the previous quarter, which was US$ 89.88 million.
JA Solar also reported that its inventory increased by 65.06% compared to the same period last year. According to the company, this increase was due to the growth of its business in 2020 and the implementation of the main sales contracts signed by the company in 2020 for shipments in 2021.

The manufacturer also recorded net revenue of approximately US$ 3.93 billion, billed in 2020, an increase of 22.17% compared to the previous year. The net profit attributed to the manufacturer's shareholders was US$ 229 million, an increase of 20.34% compared to 2019.
“In Brazil, the expansion of the local team due to a significant increase in the number of customers and partners, contributed positively to the company’s growth movement”, he adds.
