Therefore, all to the carbon emissions of the festival, coming from consumption in electricity, will be compensated through the emission in credits in sustainable energy.

Those credits are generated by I-REC certification (International Renewable Energy Certificate), global system certification that prove The renewable energy origin used by companies, industries and homes.

The certification was obtained by Tereos in 2021 and guarantees that the electrical energy generated by the company in this case is from biomass of sugar cane.

The festival and the company have already collaborated in 2022. At the time, 230 RECs were supplied, equivalent to 1 MWh of energy each. They helped offset around 175 tonnes of carbon in emissions. The forecast for this edition is that a similar number of certificates will be issued.

Once again, we count on the partnership of Tereos in this process”, said Marcelo Rocci, one of the organizers of João Rock.

“For Tereos, it is very important to establish partnerships like João Rock, bringing sustainability to events in a pioneering way in the sector. It is very gratifying to have cultural partners who share the same vision and are committed to building a better future”, explains Gustavo Segantini, commercial director at Tereos.
