Photovoltaic and energy storage solutions manufacturer KStar has completed the first phase of the factory located in the city of Haiphong, the largest port city in northern Vietnam. The construction of the space was divided into two stages.
In this first phase, the built area covers 25 thousand square meters and, according to the company, the operation will begin after the acquisition, installation and commissioning of production equipment is completed, expected by the end of 2022.
The built space is designed to annually produce 10 thousand units of UPS (uninterruptible power supply – energy storage), a thousand units of modular data center and 1 GW of solar inverters. The company estimates that around 200 jobs will be created.
Also according to KStar, after the completion of the two stages, the new manufacturing unit will have an area of 47,715 square meters. The company's goal with this construction is to expand its global manufacturing presence.
Construction for the second phase is expected to begin in 2024. When ready, the space will primarily be used to produce energy storage systems and electric vehicle charging stations.
“Responding to KStar's rapid growth in the global market, this would be the first time we have used factories in Vietnam to increase production capacity. As one of the largest UPS manufacturers in the world, we have been working to meet our customers' desire for more diversified production bases,” said Bevis Wang, Vice President of International Sales at Kstar.
Kstar has been planning its factory in Vietnam since 2019. Upon completion, the factory will be the company's sixth manufacturing base and first in Vietnam. “It will greatly meet overseas customers’ delivery expectations, therefore increasing the company’s competitive advantage in the industry,” concluded Wang.
