Auction A-6/2019 consolidates the competitiveness of solar and wind sources

The auction results show a maturation of the wind and solar source

ANEEL together with CCEE (Electric Energy Trading Chamber) announced on Friday (18/10) the winning projects of the A-6/2019 energy auction, which totaled R$ 44 billion in energy trading contracts, equivalent to a generation of 250 TWh.

The 91 projects covered, of which 27 hydro plants, 44 wind plants, 11 photovoltaic solar plants and 9 thermal plants, total 3 GW of installed power, with an average negotiation price of R$ 179.09/MWh.

The auction results show a maturation of the wind and solar source. Wind power, the big winner of the auction, won 44 projects that together surpass the 1 GW mark. The energy from the source obtained a price well below the average auction price – R$ 98.89 /MWh.

Solar plants, which together total 11 projects, totaled 530 MW of installed power, at the lowest cost among all other sources in the auction – R$ 84.39 / MWh.

The selected projects must enter into operation by the beginning of 2025.
