The 29 plants contracted in the first new energy auction of the year will attract more than R$7 billion in investment. The projects will provide electricity generated from water, wind, solar and biomass resources.

Negotiations with investors were promoted this Friday (27), by ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) and CCEE (Electric Energy Commercialization Chamber).

The contracted electricity must be delivered to the SIN (National Interconnected System) between 2026 and 2045 to meet the demand of three distributors (Cemig, Coelba and Light) in the regulated market, which supplies homes and small and medium-sized companies.

The projects total 947 MW of power and will be built in the states of Bahia, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Minas Gerais, Paraíba, Paraná, Pernambuco, Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, São Paulo and Tocantins.

In the assessment of Rui Altieri, president of the CCEE Board of Directors, “the event achieved its main objective, of contracting energy to satisfy the needs presented by distribution companies, and also presented a discount”.

Contracts were signed with an average price 9.36% lower than the defined ceiling value, which will generate savings of approximately R$ 1 billion, according to ANEEL estimates, avoiding a tariff increase of 0.5 percentage points for consumers.

The 36th A-4 New Energy Auction was held in virtual format and in accordance with the parameters of article 19 of Decree No. 5,163, of 07/30/2004. The complete result is available on CCEE website.
