Mato Grosso became the 5th state to reach the 1 GW mark of installed power in distributed micro and minigeneration in Brazil, according to data from ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency).

With this, the federative unit joins the states of Minas Gerais, São Paulo, Rio Grande do Sul and Paraná, which total 2.39 GW; 2.34 GW; 1.93 GW and 1.66 GW, respectively.

Until the November 2021, only Minas Gerais accounted for more than 1 GW in modality.

At the time, Mato Grosso adds up to just over 75.3 thousand photovoltaic systems installed in GD in all of its 141 municipalities, being Cuiabá has the largest volume of power (167.7 MW).

Close behind are Rondonópolis (63.8 MW); Smile (59.6 MW); Sinop (58.7 MW) and Várzea Grande (54.4 MW), completing the top five places.

Between the consumer classes, residential is the one with the best numbers in the state, with 434 MW, followed by commercial (244.1 MW), rural (227.7 MW) and industrial (121.9 MW).

Already the generation modality itself accounts for more than 90% of the installed power in distributed micro and minigeneration, with 928.4 MW. Next come remote self-consumption (110.5 MW), shared generation (90.84 kW) and projects with multiple consumer units (4.5 kW).

At the moment, almost 80% of installed power in Mato Grosso is originating of photovoltaic systems microgeneration (797.4 MW of the current 1.03 GW).
