The MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy) announced that it will reevaluate the governance of the computational models used by the department, the ONS (National Electric Sector Operator), the EPE (Energy Research Company) and the CCEE (Electric Energy Trading Chamber ).
The decision was taken by CPAMP (Permanent Committee for Analysis of Methodologies and Computational Programs for the Electricity Sector).
Today, computational models are used in expansion planning, operation planning and programming and short-term market price formation activities.
According to the MME, the new governance will not impact guidelines already established regarding transparency and predictability of approval of improvements related to computational models used in the Brazilian electricity sector.
The Ministry informed that the new format aims to promote a more active and dynamic participation of those interested in the topic, safeguarding coherence and integration between methodologies. The expectation is that bureaucracy will be reduced and decision-making will be decentralized.
The discussion about what governance will be like is still being carried out by CPAMP. The idea is that a public consultation will be opened in the coming months to gather contributions from civil society on the topic.
The proposal will also be presented for consideration by the CNPE (National Energy Policy Council). In addition to reassessing the governance of computational models, CPAMP also discussed activities for the next cycle.
