Oi opened a solar energy consortium and is looking for companies with DG (Distributed Generation) plants, in operation or in the immediate connection phase, that are interested in connecting with the telephone company's UCs (consumer units).

Currently, Oi has UCs in several states in Brazil and is studying the fit of the consortium modality for a period of 12 to 24 months. Interested parties should send an email to: [email protected]

Recently, the company connected two solar power plants in the states of Mato Grosso and Goiás. The plants were developed exclusively to meet the needs of the company, which has been seeking to diversify its matrix through renewable sources.

In total, the company plans to implement 32 DG plants, equivalent to the annual energy consumption of more than 86 thousand homes.

Other initiatives

In Brazil, Oi is not the first and only telephone company to be concerned with the diversification of its headquarters. Last month, for example, Vivo inaugurated, in the Federal District (DF), in partnership with Athon Energia, the its 23rd photovoltaic distributed generation plant in operation in the country.

Claro has also been following the same path as other companies for more than five years. In 2017, the company launched the “A Energia da Claro” program, aiming to prioritize the use of renewable sources and environmental protection actions in all its operations and facilities in Brazil. One of the company's plants has been operating for almost a year, also in the Federal District (DF).
