ONS elects new directors for the next four years

​The ONS (National Electric System Operator) announced, this Wednesday (27), the new composition of the board as of May 17.

During a virtual meeting, the names of Elisa Bastos, as director of Corporate Affairs, and Christiano Vieira, as director of Operations, were approved.

According to the ONS, the names were unanimously elected by the associated members. Both will serve a four-year term, in the four-year period 2022-2026.

Therefore, the ONS board will have the following composition: Luiz Carlos Ciocchi, general director; Marcelo Prais, IT director, Agent Relations and Regulatory Affairs; Alexandre Nunes Zucarato, Director of Planning; Elisa Bastos, director of Corporate Affairs and Christiano Vieira as director of Operations.

Curriculum

The first woman to serve on the ONS board of directors, Elisa has a PhD in Energy Systems Planning from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Unicamp.

She, who until now holds the position of director of ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency), he also worked in the Special Advisory for Economic Affairs of the MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy) and at CELG (Companhia Energética de Goiás). She will replace Jaconias de Aguiar who took over as director of the ONS in May 2018.

Christiano Vieira has more than 18 years dedicated to regulating the electricity sector. He has a master's degree in Economics and an MBA in Management in Electric Energy Companies.

According to the ONS, with operations focused on the generation and commercialization of electrical energy, it participated in the implementation of the main aspects of the current model of the electrical sector.

He holds the position of Secretary of Electric Energy at the MME and will succeed Sinval Zaidan Gama, who took over as director of the Operator in May 2018.
