O ONS (National Electric System Operator) just launched the GamethONS, a technological challenge aimed at high school students and teachers from public schools in Brazil, with the aim of raising awareness of the importance of energy.
According to the Operator, the proposal is encourage participants to develop an unprecedented digital game, whose theme is the challenges of the national electricity sector and sustainability.
For students, GamethONS is an opportunity to expand knowledge on topics of global relevance, in addition to stimulating creative skills and digital protagonism.
GamethONS: how does it work?
To participate, the interested party must be attending high school and present their active enrollment in 2023 or be a teaching professional. Both must prove that they are part of a duly recognized public institution.
Interested parties must form teams, consisting of a teacher and two students. The project is entirely online and registrations can be made in this website until March 28th.
The first 50 registered teams will be invited to the GamethONS opening live, on the day April 3rd, 7pm. During the live broadcast, the third and final step to confirm participation will be completed: validating registration on the platform where the activities will take place.
Assessment and award criteria
The evaluation of the projects will be carried out by a committee of ONS employees and representatives of Sincroniza Educação, a partner company of the Operator in the conception and execution of the initiative.
Among the criteria to be observed by evaluators are: suitability to the theme; gameplay; originality of game design and resources; coherence between the project/documentation and the final product.
The winning teams will receive awards ranging from notebooks to Honorable Mention digital documents. Furthermore, students from teams ranked among the top ten will be able to compete for a short-term internship opportunity in the area of Operator Information Technology.
To the vacancies are of six months long and are subject to the interests of participants, the approval of legal representatives and the approval of the school.
