A JA Solar announced that its modules have nine certifications in the photovoltaic market. Among them are the classifications received by PVTech, RETC, PVEL, EUPD Research, TUV SÜD, UL Solutions, BNEF, Intertek ETL and the seal of Inmetro.

Of the more than 150 existing panel manufacturers, for example, 39 are listed in the Bloomberg T1 financial ranking, 35 were certified by the PVEL laboratory, six have quality certification by RETC and only four have AAA certification by PVTech.

AAA

The Bankability Ranking is a study developed by PV Tech. According to the company, it is a well-known classification and assessment of risk scale in financial contributions to companies.

This report provides financial data and production capacity, indicating scales C – high risk and AAA – high profitability, the well-known triple A. “Classification is very important in the solar segment and JA is part of triple A with only three other manufacturers ”, highlights Fernando Castro, Country Manager Brazil at JA Solar.

RETC

RETC (Renewable Energy Test Center) is an independent American testing laboratory for the solar segment. Recommended by BNEF (BloombergNEF), it tests modules for a period of 12 months, pointing out indicators of reliability, performance and quality.

“JA Solar is one of only six manufacturers that have RETC certification. JA Solar modules were recognized as High Achiever, that is, excellent performance, quality, reliability and performance”, adds the executive.

Among the tests carried out at RETC are:

  • Reliability Indicators;
  • Damp Heat Test – Damp Heat;
  • Dynamic Mechanical Load Sequence – Dynamic Mechanical Load Sequence;
  • Thermal Cycle Test – Thermal Cycle;
  • PID Resistance – Degradation.

Performance indicators:

  • Module Efficiency – Efficiency;
  • PTC – to – STC Ratio – Temperature Coefficient;
  • Pan File Characterization – Pan File Information;
  • LID Resistance – Induced Degradation;
  • LeTID Resistance – Light-induced degradation.

Quality Indicators:

  • Thresher Tests – Thresher;
  • Hail Durability Test (HDT) – Durability.

PVEL

According to the company, PVEL is the main independent laboratory in the solar industry. It points out reliability indicators for photovoltaic modules available on the market, in tests carried out over a period of 18 months. Of the more than 800 brands sold in Brazil, only 35 have PVEL quality certifications.

JA Solar was ranked Top Performer for the eighth time this year by the PV Module Reliability Scorecard. Based on the “Photovoltaic Module Qualification Program (PQP)”, PVEL carried out six rigorous reliability tests, above the IEC certification standard.

Among them are thermal cycling (TC600), moist heat (DH2000), mechanical stress test sequence (MSS), light-induced degradation (LID) + light and elevated temperature-induced degradation (LeTID) and PAN performance in order to comprehensively evaluate the reliability and power generation performance of photovoltaic modules.

“We have once again been awarded 'Top Performer' module supplier, which further demonstrates the technical and quality advantages of the products and confirms the excellent long-term reliable performance and power generation performance of the modules,” emphasizes the spokesperson for JA Solar in Brazil.

EUPD Research

With more than 20 years of experience, the certification body compiles performance information from photovoltaic and storage product brands.

JA Solar, for many years, has been recognized as “Top Brand PV” by EUPD Research in several regions and countries, such as Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, Southeast Asia and Africa.

TUV SÜD

Authorized institution specialized in testing, certification, auditing and advisory services for different industries. TUV SÜD is one of nine certifications that JA Solar has achieved since the beginning of its history in 2005.

It evaluates the performance of panels using safety standards from the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), identifying the long-term reliability of the products.

UL Solutions

UL Solutions develops tests, verifications, certifications, training and consultancy services. Its guidelines are to help companies regarding the safety, quality, care and environmental needs of their products, complying with regulatory requirements. JA Solar has UL Certification and Environmental Product Declaration (EPD).

Tier 1

Created by BNEF, it certifies photovoltaic module manufacturers based on three criteria:

  1. Total manufacturing of modules;
  2. Have supplied panels to six or more projects above 1.5 MW, which have been financed in the last two years by non-development banks;
  3. Not having filed for bankruptcy or not being insolvent (in default).

Intertek ETL

In Thomas Edison's lighting laboratories, the ETL Intertek brand emerged, considered one of the largest testing, inspection and certification companies in the world.

JA Solar is certified by ETL Intertek who independently test products and ensure they meet the published standard.

Inmetro

The Inmetro seal is present on practically all everyday products. The same has also been established for photovoltaic modules, and JA has it.

The main objective is to ensure the existence of the brand in Brazil, legally, in case of any need. “For example, when there is a defect”, concluded the company.
