The photovoltaic panels installed in CDHU (Housing and Urban Development Company) residential complexes in São Paulo generate savings of up to 70% on consumers' electricity bills.
According to the company, the average consumption of residents of houses built by CDHU is 140 kWh per month. With the installation of photovoltaic panels, this average drops to 60 kWh, as they generate, on average, 80 kWh per month.
Also according to CDHU, savings are boosted with LED lamps, installed before homes are delivered and bring a 10 kWh reduction in consumption. Therefore, the average consumption is 50 kWh per month per household.
CDHU's administrative technical superintendent, Sílvio Vasconcellos, states that the installation of solar panels has a positive impact on consumers' pockets.
“Residents stay within the minimum electricity tariff charge range, which corresponds to 50 kWh per month. This changes everyday life and reflects on the owner's financial savings. Even if there is a small increase in consumption, the savings are still significant”, highlights Vasconcellos.
The measure affects the routine of residents, who highlight the advantage of photovoltaic panels, as is the case of Adauto Antônio da Silva, resident of a CDHU housing complex in the city of Pratânia, in the Sorocaba region.
Before moving into his home, he paid rent and spent around R$ 140 per month on his electricity bill. Today, it pays approximately R$ 45. “It’s an advantage. With the savings, I am investing in expanding the wall and purchasing the gate”, he says.
Structure and advantages
The generator installed in CDHU homes is made up of two photovoltaic panels, approved by Inmetro, with polycrystalline silicon technology. The bidirectional meter, installed by the concessionaire, measures the energy injected into the grid and the general consumption of the home.
Since 2018, CDHU's new house projects have started to feature photovoltaic systems. In 2019, 18 projects were delivered, totaling 1451 housing units with equipment.
In 2020, 1,172 housing units were delivered in the municipalities of Águas de Santa Bárbara, Tarumã, Dois Córregos, Bragança Paulista, São Manuel, Pratânia, Areiópolis, Ibaté and Botucatu, all with photovoltaic systems. Another 92 projects are planned, corresponding to 7886 housing units, already under construction.
In addition to savings, another economic advantage is the cost of implementing the system. In 2019, it cost R$ 4,095.00 per household. Currently, the equipment is less than R$ 3 thousand.
