Recycling lithium-ion batteries on a large scale is already a reality in Brazil. This is because the distributor Aldo Solar and the company Energy Source signed a partnership this month to distribute reused lithium ion batteries throughout Brazil.

The partnership became viable after the development of an exclusive technology for the production of rechargeable lithium ion batteries, based on the 3Rs of sustainability: reduce, reuse and recycle, developed by Energy Source.

“It was a big challenge to develop the batteries and, especially, to discover how to reuse these cells. But we have reached the point where we are very satisfied and proud of our product”, says Peter Matthisen, technology director and founding partner of Energy Source.

According to Aldo Pereira Teixeira, founder and president of ALDO, the partnership is a way that the distributor found to combine entrepreneurship with environmental preservation.

“The partnership with Energy Source gave us the chance to strengthen our commitment to sustainability and make a high-tech, high-quality product available to the market. These batteries are four times more durable and easy to connect. They guarantee, for example, 70% of savings in an off-grid solar energy production and storage system”, says Aldo.

According to Energy Source, the batteries are lighter 70%, discharge at 70% and provide up to 1,200 cycles. Furthermore, they tolerate high and low temperatures and do not emit gases.

Also according to the company, the batteries can be used in various projects and have an intelligent SGC (Charge Management System) to protect the load, short circuit protection and internal balancing of the blocks, preventing overload and complete discharge.
