Police recover cargo of panels valued at more than R$ 500 thousand

A Bahia Civil Police recovered, in a store in the city of Irecê (BA), a load of solar panels valued at more than R$ 520 thousand.

The seizure was the result of the operation Unum Corpus launched this Monday (13) by Decarga (Department for the Suppression of Theft and Cargo Theft on Highways) with support from Depin (Interior Police Department).

According to the Civil Police, the truck with all the material was intercepted by criminals in the municipality of Biritinga (BA), who held the driver of the vehicle captive for several hours before abandoning him on the border of the state of Sergipe. 

Soon after finding the truck, the police obtained information that in the regions of Irecê and Xique-Xique there were small solar plants and possibly a receiver could buy all the material. 

“With the help of monitoring cameras and information from employees, we found the trader who purchased the entire cargo for the value of R$ 40 thousand”, he explained. Gustavo Coutinho, Decarga delegate.

Still according to the delegate, the merchant, charged red-handed for qualified reception, confessed to the crime. “The material was for sale at his commercial establishment, on Avenida Santos Lopes, in the city of Irecê. All cargo was recovered and returned to the owner,” said the delegate.

The merchant and his wife were taken to the police station. The two will answer for the crime of qualified reception (Art. 180 §1 of the CPB). According to police information, Decarga already has the name of the individual who brokered the sale and the person who received the amount through the merchant's PIX

Professionals interviewed by Solar Channel reported that the store had the lowest prices in the city, selling 8.8k Wp for R$28 thousand.

The investigation continues until others involved are identified and charged.
