Centers serving the Yanomami people receive solar energy

O MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy) determined the installation of panels solar energy with batteries in poles service health and ethno-environmental protection located in the Yanomami indigenous land, in Roraima.

A technology will serve for ensure the supply of electrical energy at these service stations, aiming to humanitarian aid to the Yanomami population – that, with the presence of illegal mining on their lands, have suffered from cases of malnutrition and diseases such as malaria and pneumonia. 

Us last four years, were recorded 570 child deaths in the territory. Indigenous communities in Surucucu, Auaris, Palimiu, Serra da Estrutura, Walo Pali and Xexena are being served by the initiative. 

A installation of equipment was operationalized inside More Light for the Amazon Program, through Eletrobras and the concessionaire Roraima Energia, with support from the Ministry of Health and Funai (National Foundation of Indigenous Peoples).
