Porto Alegre (RS) launches notice for solar energy plants

A Porto Alegre City Hall (RS) launched, this Wednesday (29), on the Dopa (Official Gazette of Porto Alegre), a bidding notice for PPP (Public-Private Partnership) for implementation, operation and maintenance of photovoltaic plants, with the aim of reducing CO2 emissions and generating savings for the municipality’s public coffers.

Altogether, the City Hall estimates whatannually, more than 4.6 thousand tons of C02 will no longer be issued In the atmosphere. Already the cost reduction with electrical energy will be R$ 15 million per annum.

After holding a public consultation and hearing to improve the studies between November and December 2023, the notice was analyzed by the TCE (State Audit Court). 

In the administrative concession modality, the private partner will be responsible for the implementation, management, maintenance and operation of photovoltaic plants for a period of 26 years, working in the credit compensation system to reduce the energy consumption of municipal buildings. 

A forecast is that 4.1 MW of total power will be installed, enough to cover the energy demand of 441 low voltage installations, in places such as basic health units, markets and public buildings, among others.

Free Energy Market 

According to Porto Alegre City Hall, in addition to the implementation of new plants of solar energy, the municipality also has two signed contracts for contracting the photovoltaic source at the Free Energy Market. Current contracts are already in progress, aimed at meeting the demand for medium voltage units.
