O average price of the modules with technology HJT (heterojunction) in the international market suffered a reduction of 6,25% in January this year, according to data from InfoLink Consulting, on the cost behavior of the photovoltaic production chain.

O value fell from US$ 0.16/W to U$S 0.15/W between the first and last week of last month, being the only type of photovoltaic module that registered significant price changes during the period.

Indicators indicate that the values of solar panels with PERC technology (monofacial and bifacial), as well as TOPCon and N-Type products, remained without major fluctuations throughout the month of January.

It is worth noting, however, that all types of solar modules recorded significant drops in costs in 2023, which culminated in an average reduction of 40% in the price of technology in Brazil.

What are HJT modules?

In a simplified way, the HJT modules its main difference is the fact that its cells combine two distinct technologies: crystalline silicon and the “thin film” amorphous silicon, which work in harmony to produce electricity through three layers.

The first, made of amorphous silicon, captures sunlight before it reaches the crystalline layer, as well as any light that reflects from the underlying layers.

The middle layer is made up of monocrystalline silicon, which is mainly responsible for converting most sunlight into electricity.

The final layer, made of thin-film amorphous silicon, located behind the crystalline silicon, captures the remaining photons that passed through the first two layers.

By combining these two technologies, HJT modules end up allowing a increased efficiency when compared to conventional solar panels, making them an attractive choice for photovoltaic power generation.
