O weekly newsletter from InfoLink Consulting, over the cost behavior of the photovoltaic production chain, was released this Thursday (14).

A main movement registered was a drop in wafer prices, with emphasis on the 210 mm Type-P, which fell 3.4% in the last week: from US$ 0.349 to US$ 0.337 per piece.

The price of 182mm P-Type wafers also suffered an important reduction in the period analyzed. A drop was 2.5%, with each piece being sold for US$ 0.248.

The price suffered fluctuations due to high production planning and the increase in inventories – which grew to around 3.3 to 3.5 billion pieces in the last week.

As a result of these factors, the consultancy assesses that there is a high chance that further drops in wafer prices will continue to occur in the international market.

Check out other highlights from the global photovoltaic chain below in InfoLink Consulting's new weekly newsletter.

Cells

Cell prices have remained stable since the last report. Type-P PERC technology cells were sold at US$ 0.052/W, while TOPCon cells continued to trade at US$ 0.062/W.

With the drop in wafer prices, the growth in cell values is expected to slow, despite attempts by manufacturers to sell at a higher price. Future component price trends will depend on the value of the modules.

Modules

Some of the module producers continued to try to increase the sales value of the component. However, others delivered orders at a low price, indicating an inconsistency in sales strategies.

However, more recently manufacturers have slowed module shipments. Thus increasing possible price increases in the future.
