Last week, the State Secretariat for Infrastructure and Environment of São Paulo signed a protocol of intentions with Unicamp (State University of Campinas) for the development of actions aimed at energy efficiency and sustainability.
In an event held virtually, an agreement was signed to join efforts to implement, for example, actions and projects in the areas of rational use of energy, renewable generation, electric mobility, smart grids and microgrids.
Furthermore, the partnership aims to contribute to initiatives for technological transition in the electricity sector, as well as promoting the improvement of energy management in the state of São Paulo, the training and qualification of specialized human resources and the prospecting of resources and partners.
“Adding another great partner, within our work and advances in terms of preservation, maintenance of the environment, and better use of public resources, brings us a lot of joy”, said Marcos Penido, Secretary of Infrastructure and Environment .
“In the energy sector, we have developed several works, such as the decarbonization of the energy matrix, the search for new less polluting matrices, renewable sources, efficiency and rational use of resources. Therefore, this new cooperation with academia is extremely important, in order to seek new ways so that we can increasingly put the issue of energy efficiency into practice”, highlighted Penido.

Marcelo Knobel, rector of Unicamp, said that the basis for the significant advances that are taking place at the university is undoubtedly the result of this type of partnership: “We are very happy, always seeking to strengthen our public institutions, seeking to bring each increasing benefits for society in general is being able to contribute to a sustainable future”, he highlighted.
The term of the protocol of intentions is 24 months, with the possibility of extension, and does not involve the transfer of financial resources between the parties.
