Presence of women in leadership positions increases

A study carried out by Grant Thornton, based on data from 2022, showed that the presence of women in leadership positions increased from 25%, in 2019, to 38%, last year.

The trend demonstrates that companies and large corporations have changed their mindset and are implementing concrete actions to reverse the imbalance scenario. Among the companies, for example, is Solarprime.

According to the network's management, the number of women in leadership positions increased approximately five times in two years, recording an increase of 500% in the presence of women in management positions.

“Companies in the solar energy segment have a majority male audience as a culture, and I believe we are going against this trend, implementing concrete actions to change this scenario”, stated Raphael Brito, partner and founder of Solarprime.

“We currently have six women in leadership positions, four of whom are in the technical area. The forecast is that this number will increase”, emphasized Brito. In total, Solarprime has 131 employees, 42% of which are held by women, with 32% in more technical positions.

“We believe in an egalitarian society and have achieved excellent results with the presence of women in strategic roles and positions, which demonstrates that we are on a coherent path that contributes to our growth”, he concluded.

In the view of Mayara Dias Bouças, Human Resources manager at Solarprime, the increase in the number of female leaders in the company is due to the deconstructed thinking of the company's management.

“The solar energy market is mostly occupied by men, mainly in more technical positions, such as engineering. However, at Solarprime this scenario has been changing and we currently have 32% of technical positions held by women. This proves that management analyzes the profile and technical capacity much more than the gender of employees”, he pointed out.

The Human Resources coordinator, who started at Solarprime as a legal advisor, believes that the path to increasing female leadership is not an easy task.

“To reach leadership and maintain it, women have a double barrier to face: one is being a leader and a woman and the other is that, in addition to proving their competence, they need to impose themselves more to always guarantee respect and dignity”, she reinforced.

It will take the world 132 years to reach complete parity

According to the 16th edition of the Global Gender Gap Index, a study on gender inequality in the world recently released, at the current rate of progress, the world will take 132 years to achieve complete parity between men and women.

At Unicoba there are 670 employees, where 52% of employees are women and 48% are men, with 36% of management positions held by women. Among these employees who occupy a management position at the company is Andrea Terranova, director of Controlling and Finance at Unicoba.

For her, the importance of a woman occupying a leadership position is to show that the company's culture is inclusive, fair and encouraged by senior management to provide a cooperative and more diverse work environment.

“In addition, diversity brings innovation as we have professionals with different experiences and points of view contributing to multiple solutions to problems”, he commented.

George Fernandes, CEO of Unicoba, said that gender equity in the company ensures that women and men, in all their diversity, have the same conditions and opportunities to fully realize their potential, in addition to contributing to the development of the company and benefit from the results.
