The production of photovoltaic energy on rural properties has been growing considerably in Brazil. Data from ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) shows that the installed power in the sector increased from 305 thousand kWh to around 660 kWh in the last 12 months – that is, an increase of 115%.
According to Alexandre Borin, commercial manager at Fronius, the agribusiness is the market segment that invested the most in solar in 2020. Following this premise, the government of the state of Rio de Janeiro, through the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Supply, developed the Energia Limpa rural development line.
This line is part of the Agrofundo Program and its beneficiaries are rural producers with farms located in Rio de Janeiro. The financeable limit is 100% of the budget, up to R$ 60 thousand, with a maximum term of 60 months and annual interest of 2%.
“The field is one of the places with the greatest potential for using this energy source. Having the ability to generate your own energy means that the rural property has a considerable gain, and this resource can be applied to the farmer's core activities”, explained Marcelo Queiroz, State Secretary of Agriculture,
According to Pasta, the surplus energy produced by the photovoltaic modules on the rural property will be transferred to the electricity concessionaire, which will compensate it in the form of energy credits – which can even be enjoyed in other rural producer homes, such as in the city.
