O RenovaPR (Paraná Rural Renewable Energy Program), an initiative of the IDR-Paraná (Paraná Rural Development Institute), has boosted energy generation in the countryside. The project enabled the producer from Paraná to invest in renewable energy with zero interest.

According to data from Copel (Paraná Energy Company), the number of properties generating clean energy skyrocketed after the launch of the program by IDR-Paraná, in August 2021.

In 2020, the registered number of new connections to the company's network was 2,465 thousand. In August 2022, with the program, this number registered a sevenfold increase, reaching 17,312 thousand new connections.

The institute's stipulated goal, when the project was launched, was to reach 12 thousand properties with some renewable energy generation system.

Rural connections made in the state of Paraná already total 26,118, with around 68% of these connections occurring after the launch of the program, exceeding the initial goal.

According to Herlon Goelzer, coordinator of RenovaPR, the program closed 2022 with 5,440 approved projects. “We easily exceeded the established target. Whether with a subsidy from RenovaPR, through the Farmer's Bank, or from our own investments, without involvement from the program, we reach more producers than we estimated”, he highlights.

From RenovaPR's perspective, this number demonstrates the strength of the public policy developed by the initiative, which raised awareness among thousands of rural producers about energy generation.
