O MME (Ministry of Minas Energia) published, this Wednesday (28), a report which presents the contributions received by the Department within the scope of the Public Consultation No. 137/2022 – which dealt with the reduction of load limits for contracting electricity on Mercado Livre for consumers connected to low voltage.
A proposal Visa allow opening of Free market, giving these consumers the right to purchase electricity from any supplier. The Consultation received contributions between October 3rd and November 3rd, 2022.
In total, they were 53 feedbacks of agents representatives from all segments of the Brazilian electricity sector. “As expected, more than 94% of agents were in favor of the proposal of opening the market for consumers connected to low voltage”, highlighted the MME.
According to the Authority, the high percentage of approval of the openness reflects the benefits to the consumer, You will have more autonomy over your preferences and will be able to choose products that better suit your consumption profile and your budget.

A consultation addressed topics as management of the distributors' portfolio, creation of the SUI figure (Supplier of Last Resort) and its duties, measurement data aggregation, treatment of legacies and energy auctions, among others.
“The result demonstrates that the opening of the electricity market continues to be an inevitable and essential measure for the modernization of the Brazilian electricity sector”, assessed the MME.
