Fifteen of the 26 states that make up the Brazilian territory and the Federal District (DF) already have at least one system of solar energy installed in the segment of G.D. (distributed generation) in all their respective counties.
This is what a survey carried out by the Solar Channel, based on data from ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) and the IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics).
It is a indicator that just reinforces the expansion that the source has been registering over the last few years with consumers across the country, since, in December 2021, were just seven the number of states with 100% from its municipalities generating energy through solar DG.
In the regions Southeast and Midwest, all states have at least one distributed micro and mini generation photovoltaic system connected to the distribution network in all their municipalities.
In the Southeast, there are 1,668 cities located between the states of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo, while in the Southeast Midwest there are 466 municipalities in Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul and Goiás, in addition to the Federal District.
Already in North East, four of the nine states in the region (Alagoas, Bahia, Ceará and Pernambuco) are already generating energy through solar DG in 100% of their municipalities, while in the region North there are, for now, only two states (Rondônia and Tocantins) with connections in all cities.
In turn, the region South is, at the moment, the closest to also having 100% in its locations with at least one solar system in the distributed micro and mini generation segment. Currently, only two of the 1,191 cities in the region do not have connections: Matos Costa and Balneário Rincão, both in the state of Santa Catarina.
Solar in Brazil
In total, solar DG is already present in 5,523 of the 5,570 Brazilian municipalities, which represents just over 99.1% of the total and a generation of more than 18.33 GW of installed power through 1.76 million photovoltaic systems in operation.
Currently, of the 47 municipalities that do not yet have any solar energy system installed in this modality, more than 70% (34) are located in the North region of the country, especially in cities where the arrival of technology transportation by road or plane is considered difficult to access.
Brazilian states with solar DG in all municipalities:
- South: Paraná and Rio Grande do Sul.
- Southeast: Holy Spirit; Minas Gerais; Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.
- Midwest: Goiás; Mato Grosso; Mato Grosso do Sul (in addition to the Federal District).
- North East: Alagoas; Bahia; Ceará; Pernambuco.
- North: Tocantins and Rondônia.
