Aiming to invest in sustainability, the Ipiranga fuel distribution network has invested, since 2016, in the implementation of electric vehicle charging points in Brazilian territory. The action is carried out in partnership with the manufacturer BMW.
Public charging points for eletric cars and plug-in hybrids are chargers from BMW's i line (i3 and i8). According to the manufacturer, the pug-in is the universal model IEC 62196 Mennekes Type 2.
Currently, the partnership has electric chargers at 44 stations that offer the free service. The BMW charging system performs single-phase or three-phase recharging from 10 to 32 Amps with a capacity of up to 22 kW.
In addition, Ipiranga also has six more units on the Presidente Dutra highway, in partnership with energy distributor EDP since 2018. The project received around R$ 1 million in investments for the implementation of fast charging equipment.

According to Ipiranga, the estimated time to refuel a vehicle with a 22 kWh battery is 25 minutes for 80% of charge. Refueling can be done by up to two vehicles at the same time at each station.
