A Petrobras plans to install a 11 MW solar plant at Regap (Gabriel Passos Refinery), located in Betim (MG). The plant should supply 80% of the refinery's energy needs.
The announcement of the project was made by the company's president, Jean Paul Prates, during an event at the Federation of Industries of Minas Gerais.
According to Prates, the implementation of the integrated solar plant the process of refinery modernization and the increase in refining capacity, estimated at US$ 2.6 billion by 2027.
The Gabriel Passos Refinery was opened on March 30, 1968, with a current capacity of 170 thousand barrels per day. With the modernization, it is estimated that the current capacity will be increased to 200 thousand barrels per day, in the first phase of modernization, and in the second phase to 240 thousand barrels per day.
Currently, it serves a large part of the Minas Gerais market and, eventually, the Espírito Santo market.
