The multinational Reivax signed a contract with the Canadian Elera Renováveis (formerly Brookfield) to supply the PPC (Power Plant Controller) system to control photovoltaic solar plants in the Alex park, under construction in Limoeiro do Norte (CE).

The solar energy complex was acquired by Elera Renováveis for around R$ 1 billion in January last year and will have 278 MW of installed power. It is expected to begin operating in 2022.

“The achievement of this partnership certainly represents a milestone for Reivax, because the company has just launched an exclusive control solution for the renewable energy market. This demonstrates the confidence and security that Elera has in our technology. We already have other proposals for similar projects and we wish to expand our participation in solar. We believe that this market could represent around 25% of the company's revenues by 2025”, says Fernando Amorim da Silveira, CEO of Reivax.

To meet demand, Reivax produced the entire PPC structure at its headquarters in Florianópolis (SC) and transported the equipment weighing more than 200 kilos for around 3,500 kilometers to the city where the solar park is located.

The installation of the equipment should be completed in the second half of this year and, once operations begin, it will be responsible for controlling all electrical grid requirements at the solar plant.

With this, the PPC will orchestrate the joint operation of solar inverters in order to combine the energy generated by Alex's numerous photovoltaic solar panels to deliver this energy to the SIN (National Interconnected System).

Investments in Brazil

The Alex park is an important investment by the Canadian fund Brookfield in Brazil, which plans to invest around R$ 4.5 billion in photovoltaic energy, including the Janaúba (MG) and Aratinga (CE) solar complexes.

Currently, Brazil is one of the largest developing markets in solar energy generation, with GC (shared generation) expected to grow from 3 GW in 2020 to 17 GW in 2030. Market projections indicate that investments will be in the order of R$ 25.8 billion in the next four years.
