The State of Minas Gerais, which has more than 1.5 GW of installed power in solar DG (distributed generation), emerges as the Brazilian leader with 17.5% of national production, according to data from ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency).

Anticipating even greater growth in solar generation in the state in the coming years, with new installation projects for large plants underway, the photovoltaic equipment manufacturer, Renew, informed that he is working with plans to expand the brand throughout the Minas Gerais market.

Last year, the company sold more than 3,000 solar systems in the state. For 2022, the company intends to reach 4 thousand installed projects, an increase of almost 35%.

“Minas Gerais today is among the states that bring us the greatest results in business. The technology is increasingly widespread in the region and we are looking to invest more, both by expanding the service team and expanding our accredited network”, says Rafael Xavier, Commercial Manager at Renovigi.

According to the company, the local tax incentives offered for solar contribute to good business results. In 2017, the state government began offering ICMS exemption for distributed solar energy generation systems with a capacity of up to 5 MW.

Furthermore, Minas has two other characteristics that favor the production of solar energy: a high insolation rate and extensive areas for the implementation of generating plants.

In this scenario, Renovigi understands that installing solar systems for DG is a good deal, both for homes and for industries, services and agribusiness.

Positive results from Renovigi

At the Bicue farm, in Abaeté (MG), where 200 cows produce 800 thousand liters of milk per day, electricity expenses are high and become even more expensive with the use of mechanical milking systems and water pumps, which are necessary during the dry period, to offer water to animals.

However, on site, solar energy has arrived to help reduce costs and optimize dairy production with more sustainability. The owner of the project João Mendes contracted the services of Derivar Engenharia – one of Renovigi's main commercial partners in Minas Gerais – for the installation of 52 modules and 3 inverters, totaling 17.42 kW.

The farmer has already realized the gain from the investment. After installing the system, at a cost of R$ 48 thousand, the savings on the electricity bill amount to just over R$ 21 thousand per year. “The reduction in operating costs is the main advantage. We made a good investment, after all, the sun is free for everyone. Therefore, the photovoltaic system is the best option”, assesses Mendes.
