Seven airports administered by concessionaire CCR Airports will receive the installation of solar farms from 2025. The company signed contracts with Volteon and Atuação Energia to produce and sell energy for the Free market.

At airport sites, solar panels will be positioned in defined areas so as not to harm the routine activities of the complexes. To the construction are scheduled to begin in the first half of 2024.

“By enabling the use of areas at seven airports for the development of sustainable technology, we are talking about the convergence of two traditionally distinct sectors: aviation and renewable energy,” said Monique Henrique, executive manager of Retail at CCR Aeroportos.

Daiwydson Nascimento, engineer responsible for the companies Volteon and Atuação, explains that the amount of generated energy each project will be able to serve up to 1,200 homes. “There will be approximately 6,300 solar panels per airport, totaling approximately 44,000 across the seven units,” he said.

Solar farms will be installed in the following complexes:

  • Afonso Pena International Airport, in Curitiba (PR);
  • Lauro Carneiro de Loyola Airport, in Joinville (SC);
  • Bagé International Airport, in Bagé (RS);
  • Pelotas International Airport (RS);
  • Rubem Berta International Airport, Uruguaiana (RS);
  • Brigadeiro Lysias Rodrigues Airport, Palmas (TO);
  • Petrolina Airport, Pernambuco (PE).
