O MCP (Short Term Market) Brazilian electrical sector liquidated R$ 644.32 million in August 2023, of the total R$ 1.73 billion accounted for, according to CCEE (Electricity Trading Chamber).
Of the amount settled, R$ 101.9 million were released by Eletrogóes, owner of a hydroelectric plant, in anticipation of part of the installment payment of its liabilities in the case known as hydrological risk (GSF).
According to the Chamber, this historic challenge for the market still keeps R$ 991 million tied up due to actions filed by energy generators.
“It is an important outcome, which helps to alleviate the burden of judicialization in the sector. Now with a considerable amount being redirected to the Market”, highlighted Marco Delgado, CCEE advisor who acted as rapporteur at the administrative level of the agent in question.
The current installments, which are linked to the payment of debts opened after the renegotiation of the GSF, now account for approximately R$ 51 million and the effective default in the Short Term Market totaled approximately R$ 38.92 million, approximately 43.3% of total accounted for.
According to CCEE, agents who have legal decisions in force not to participate in the apportionment of default arising from GSF injunctions noticed compliance close to 94%.
Those who continue to be supported by decisions that impose proportional payment found a payment of around 28.6%. Creditors who do not have injunctions received approximately 27% of their claims.
