The Brazilian electricity sector will receive investments of R$ 365 billion by 2030. This was stated by the director general of ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency), André Pepitone, this Monday (17), during the first day of “ World HVDC Week 2021”.
The estimate presented by the executive includes new investments in centralized generation (R$ 182 billion), in transmission (R$ 90 billion) and in distributed generation (R$ 93 billion). “Brazil will be a construction site for the electricity sector by 2030”, he guaranteed.
Pepitone highlighted that, since the creation of ANEEL, in 1996, the Brazilian electricity sector has already received investments in excess of R$ 930 billion. The general director also made a point of valuing what he classified as the “robustness” of the Brazilian transmission system. “When placed on the map of Europe, our transmission system covers almost the entire European territory”, he highlighted.
During the event, the director of ANEEL also highlighted the measures that were being taken by the Agency to make it viable to attract new investments for the sector, such as the improvement in auctions for new transmission lines and the contractual incentive for advance and partial entry of independent installations.
