Solis, a manufacturer of photovoltaic inverters, launched a line of inverters in Brazil that allows a DC/AC power ratio of up to 200%. This means that the DC power of photovoltaic modules can be up to twice the AC power of machines. These inverters operate with an input voltage of up to 1500V. According to the company, this product has become popular in Brazil and is the largest string inverter in the world, already available in Brazil.
Solis also explains that the equipment can significantly reduce the cost of a photovoltaic system. One of the reasons given by the manufacturer, regarding cost reduction for the consumer, is that the inverter makes it possible to work with a high overload.
Working with higher overload and DC input voltage allows you to reduce the amount of cables and miscellaneous items. The inverter also has the ability to measure IV curves, to detect failure in solar panels, in addition to a patented active cooling system.
Desheng Lei, sales director at Solis also highlights that, although the inverter has the ability to operate with a high DC/AC ratio, the optimal overload depends on each application. “The designer must always analyze the best LCOE, because what matters to the plant owner is the financial return on the investment” .
According to the company executive, in addition to the inverter being a great option in current projects, it is a solution for projects that will use high power modules. “This year we saw manufacturers launching photovoltaic panels of 500, 600 and even 800W, to reap the benefits of these innovations, it is also necessary to innovate in the inverter”.
Lei also highlights that, in addition to the new 255 kW inverter, the company already has the 125 kW Solis 5G model, with more than 80 MW already installed in the country. “The 125 kW inverter is also very easy to maintain, as there are spare parts in Campinas (SP) and customer support throughout Brazil”, comments Lei.

“This version is responsible for supporting 150% of overload and has all the necessary protections, so the customer also does not need to use a dedicated string-box”, concludes Lei.
