A Sunova Solar presented, during the Intersolar Europe, held in June in Germany, its new modules high density with up to 22.9% efficiency.

In total, they were presented three TOPCon panels: two bifacials and one monofacial. “What they all have in common is the new design of Sunova modules with 182x186mm cells, which allows for a higher watt peak per area,” highlighted the manufacturer.

“The bifacial, with a power range of 585 to 605 Wp, offers up to 22.9% of efficiency. Compared to Taiyang News' list of top photovoltaic panels in May, this is currently the highest efficiency for a TOPCon module on the market,” they highlighted.

In addition to the bifacial version, the new equipment is also available in the 425-445 Wp (bifacial) and 470-490 Wp (monofacial) versions. According to the company, such solutions are offered with 30 years of performance and a 15-year warranty. product.

Mass sales will begin in October, when the panels will be fully certified. Sunova's guarantees are backed by insurers Ariel re and Lloyd.

Advantages of TOPCon type N modules

The advantages of TOPCon modules go beyond high performance, such as reducing LCOE, shortening payback and increasing the IRR (Internal Rate of Return) of photovoltaic projects.

“On the manufacturing side, the TOPCon production process is not far from PERC. PERC production lines can adapt to TOPCon production by adding two more steps. These steps are the formation of tunnel oxide and the deposition of intrinsic/doped silicon”, explained the company.

“Simply, the properties of these stages are essential for designing the cell’s continuous processing steps, aiming to achieve high Voc (open circuit voltage) and achieve TOPCon’s reduced series resistance,” they emphasized.

Check out, below, a comparison made by Sunova between the PERC and TOPCon characteristics:

Factors PERC TOPcon
Cell efficiency  23,5% 25,7%
Module efficiency 21,6%  22,3%;
