Supermarket uses savings generated from solar energy to hire employees

Curitiba company is also using the amount saved to expand the store

According to a survey carried out by Greener, the retail is the sector that installed the most photovoltaic systems in the first half of 2021, representing 38% of implementations. The highlight, for example, was supermarkets with 22%.

Amid this scenario, one of the chains that has been contributing to the expansion of the segment is the distributor Betel, a supermarket located in Curitiba – which is using the amount saved with solar to expand the store and hire employees.

According to Entec, the company responsible for executing the project, a 37.24 kWp plant was built in November 2020. In total, they used 98 380 Wp photovoltaic modules from Ulica and a 30 kW Solis inverter. The electricity bill, which was around R$ 1,800, fell to R$ 300 with the new system – a reduction of 83% in the bill.

For the installation and enablement of the process, R$ 120 thousand was spent. Given the price of electricity bills and the rise in tariff flags from ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency), activated due to the water crisis, the payback will be three years.  “But, you won’t have to wait 36 months to receive the reward, after all, the monthly savings already reach the company’s customers every day”, said owner Paulo Fontoura.

With the money we would pay to the energy company, we were able to purchase products in large quantities and use them for promotion. The beneficiary is the customer, because a product that you would sell at a price of X can be lowered by carrying out this promotion”, highlighted the businessman.
