Tesla announces photovoltaic inverter for residential systems

Electric vehicle maker and clean energy company Tesla now has its own photovoltaic inverter available to residential consumers, the Tesla Solar Inverter. The equipment has two models: 3.8 kW and 7.6 kW and is now available for pre-order on the company's website.

According to Tesla, the equipment has connectivity via Wi-Fi, cable or SIMcard, and allows the user to manage their solar energy system and monitor consumption through an application. 

The equipment warranty is approximately 12 years. The release date and price have not been disclosed. The company's objective is for the equipment to be used in conjunction with the brand's other products, the Solarglass Roof panels and the Powerwall battery.
