Canal Solar TOP4: GC solar ultrapassa PCHs na matriz energética brasileira
Photovoltaic plants already represent more than 3% of the Brazilian electrical matrix

With the entry into operation of the Lavras 6 to 8 Photovoltaic Plants, located in the municipality of Caucaia (CE), the centralized photovoltaic generation source surpasses PCHs (Small Hydroelectric Power Plants) and becomes the 4th largest source of GC (centralized generation) in Brazil, with 5.615 GW.

The data are from SIGA (Generation Information System) from ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency). Also according to SIGA, hydroelectric plants represent our largest part of installed capacity, with 103 GW, representing 55.87% of our matrix.

Next come thermoelectric plants with 45.3 GW, representing 24.54%, and wind plants with 22.1 GW, representing 12%. From now on, the fourth position is occupied by photovoltaic plants, which already represent more than 3% of the Brazilian electrical matrix.

“In the last five years, the growth in photovoltaic solar generation is constant, which allowed it to reach this prominent position just 5 years after the installation of the first park. Until 2017, this source was not part of the electrical matrix””, highlighted ANNEL in a statement.

“It is also important to highlight that these numbers do not include decentralized photovoltaic generation, known as mini and micro distributed generation, which currently accumulates 12.2 GW, according to data from ANEEL's distributed generation panel”, the Agency concluded in a note.
