The city hall of Tokyo, Japan, sanctioned, this week, a law that requires that all new houses built by large construction companies, after April 2025, must install solar panels to reduce carbon emissions in the municipality.
The decision was taken after a vote in the assembly. Currently, only 4% of buildings in the Japanese capital have photovoltaic systems, according to the head of state, Yuriko Koike.
With the installation of the technology, the government believes that there will be a significant reduction in public spending on energy and rental costs will also be reduced.
Japan, as it is the fifth largest emitter of toxic gases in the world, is one of the countries that intends to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, as predicted by the Paris Agreement
