O first half of 2023 presented increase of 57% in the amount transacted between Fusions and acquisitions publicly announced on the photovoltaic market, according to mapping released by Greener.
In the first six months of the year, 2.05 GWp were transacted, while in the same period of 2022 the value was 1.3 GWp. The increase, however, contrasts with the number of transactions carried out on both dates.
While in the first half of 2023, 12 transactions were mapped (six companies and six of plants and distributed and centralized generation portfolios), in the first half of 2022 there were 23 transactions computed.
Of these, 13 were related to photovoltaic plants and distributed and centralized generation portfolios and another 10 were acquisitions of solar generation and distribution companies.
Last year (from January to December), the total mapped power of the transacted plants was 2.3 GWp. Most of them were located in the Southeast and Northeast.
Regarding the phase of transacted projects, Greener points out that operational assets were responsible for 61% of transactions in 2022. During the first half of 2023 this percentage increased to 83%.
According to the study, such percentage increase points to “a greater focus on plants in operation compared to projects that are still under construction or that have not yet started work”, highlights the research.
The research and consultancy company's survey also points out, finally, that with the “challenging scenario of low energy prices, regulatory deadlines that require greater alignment between those responsible for the project and the difficulty in accessing transmission to flow generation , many investors look for projects without associated construction and connection risks”.
