A TÜV Rheinland announced that it opened a new laboratory in Taicang, Jiangsu Province, in China. O global provider invested around 11 million euros in the first phase construction of the “Yangtze River Delta Operation Hub”, and another 11 million euros will be invested in the second stage.
“For us, the operations center is one of the biggest single investments in recent years. The project milestone shows the importance the company attaches to the Chinese market,” said Michael Fübi, CEO of TÜV Rheinland AG. “With our safety and quality testing, we support Chinese customers entering global markets.”
In the first phase of expansion, the company will offer its customers testing services in state-of-the-art facilities, which cover approximately 12,000 m².
This includes, for example, a 5,000 m² laboratory for testing photovoltaic modules, a 2,000 m² laboratory for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing and a 4,000 m² laboratory for EMC testing related to automotive electronics and auto parts.
Expanding, TÜV Rheinland is planning space totaling 37,000 m² by the end of 2023, making it the largest laboratory site in China.
So far, 150 additional jobs have been created in Taicang and, once the expansion is complete, up to 500 TÜV Rheinland employees will work there. The site will be closely integrated into the company's worldwide network of testing laboratories.
