A city hall of Cascavel (PR) and the BRDE (Regional Development Bank of the Far South) signed this Wednesday (08), during 35th edition of the Rural Show, a contract that will guarantee resources for the acquisition of 15 EVs (electric vehicles), 13 of which are conventional models and two articulated.

In total, there were invested R$ 66 million in electric buses, which will be used in the urban public transport. According to the Ministry, the cars will be supplied by the municipality's own photovoltaic plant.

The system was installed in the landfill, which has approximately 40 thousand meters², with more than 5 thousand solar panels and an investment of R$ 25 million.

A estimated savings is R$ 260 million in fuels in 25 years, which means more than 10 times the value of the contribution. With the investment, it is possible to plan to reduce public transport fares and reduce the operating cost of the system.

According to the city hall, the initiative is a step towards innovation in mobility and also sustainability, in addition to being a milestone for the city, which will be the first in the state to adopt the measure.

“This new transport model is comfortable, economical and environmentally sustainable. It is an achievement for Cascavel, the first city in Paraná to design a project like this”, highlights Leonaldo Paranhos, mayor of Cascavel.

For Wilson Bley Lipski, president of BRDE, the investment shows a new profile that the bank is assuming, linked to environmental responsibility. “It is a profile of being able to serve everyone and mainly generate social development for the entire region”, he concludes.
