Councilor Daniel Junior (Patriota) requested a technical study to analyze the feasibility of encouraging the use of solar energy in the municipality of Dourados, in Mato Grosso do Sul, establishing a Cosip rebate mechanism (Contribution to the Cost of the Public Lighting Service ) for consumers who generate their own renewable energy.
The study proposed by the councilor aims to analyze residents' solar energy generation capacity, the financial effects on public and private finances, as well as review the approaches adopted by other cities on similar issues.
The current Cosip does not include compensation for citizens who contribute surplus energy to the municipal electricity grid through investments in green technologies.
In addition to directly benefiting solar energy producers, Cosip's review has the potential to generate significant benefits for the environment. With more incentives for the adoption of photovoltaic systems, a reduction in the demand for non-renewable energy sources is expected, thus contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
For councilor Daniel Junior, this initiative represents not only a step towards the modernization of Dourados' energy policies, but also a long-term strategy that can make the city a reference in sustainability.
“The results of the technical study are now awaited, which will guide discussions on the feasibility and impacts of this proposal, paving the way for a more sustainable and economically viable future for all Douradense residents”, he emphasizes.
