WEG announces that it will participate in the US wind market

A multinational WEG announced, this Monday (6), that it will continue its planning to participate in the wind generation in the United States.

According to a press release, the company intends to use its high voltage motor and generator factory, located in Minneapolis, to progressively also manufacture its 7 MW wind turbines.

According to WEG, the planned initial investments are not relevant and are already considered in the capital budget approved by the company.

O industrial park in Minneapolis, which will house the manufacturing of wind turbines, has 45 thousand square meters of built area and approximately 200 employees.

The unit has modular capacity and operational flexibility that will allow expansion to adapt to the company's needs.

According to WEG, the factory will be able to start the supply of the first equipment from 2026. Until then, the company will begin commercial activities to capture sales contracts and develop the local supply chain.

WEG also informed that it remains committed to the strategy and continued development of the wind generation business in its current operating markets, Brazil and India.

Acquisition of Regal Rexnord

At the beginning of this month, WEG concluded the purchase of the electric motors and generators businesses of the American Regal Rexnord.

The acquisition US$ 400 million (R$ 2 billion), was announced in September last year and includes the incorporation of a total of 10 factories, in the USA, Mexico, China, India, the Netherlands and Canada, in addition to branches sales in 11 countries and around 2,800 employees.

According to WEG, the precedent conditions of the transaction were met. The acquired businesses will be consolidated in the company's financial statements from May onwards.

WEG financial results

The multinational released its financial results at the beginning of this month. The company's net operating revenue in the period was R$ 8 billion, an increase of 4.4% compared to the same period in 2023. Net profit was R$ 1.32 billion, a slight increase of 1.6% compared to the year previous.

Jaraguaense invested R$ 351.5 million in modernization and expansion of production capacity, machinery and equipment and software use licenses. Of this amount, 64% were allocated to the company's factories located in Brazil.
