The German multinational Weidmüller, which began in the photovoltaic market 20 years ago with interface terminals and DC (direct current) surge protectors, offers solutions for the international photovoltaic market aiming to meet the needs of the solar market, developing high standard technologies for the segment.

In 2020, the company provided the string boxes for the Sol do Sertão photovoltaic plant, the second largest plant in operation in the country, located in the city of Oliveira dos Brejinhos (BA).

According to the company, 2,318 string boxes were delivered to the 450 MW park within a period of 60 days. Also according to Weidmüller, this delivery was possible due to the investment in modernizing the assembly line, reaching a production capacity of 45 boxes per day for large plant projects.

“Our products connect, protect and monitor photovoltaic installations in a safe and efficient way, allowing very low installation and maintenance costs”, emphasizes the company.

Currently, Weidmüller globally supports more than 270 million photovoltaic modules with its own products, generating 70 GWp. The expectation, according to Weidmüller, is that the company will reach the milestone of 2 GWp in centralized generation projects in Brazil by the end of this year, consolidating itself as the market leader in String Boxes for large plants.

“It is with great pride that today we lead the world and Brazilian market and we are extremely pleased to see the parks installed with our products leading all profitability rankings in Brazil”, he concludes.

Also according to the company, the Brazilian market recognizes it as a differentiated partner in photovoltaic solutions, being validated both by the Transclinic monitoring system and variety of high quality components, and by its Know How for specification, sizing and designs of String Boxes and after-sales support for customers.

According to Weidmüller, the year 2022 started with more than 1.5 GW of projects for delivery to major players in the solar market.

“In the first months of this year, high-power string boxes were supplied to the largest hybrid renewable energy complex in Brazil, located in the municipality of Serra do Mel, in Rio Grande do Norte. After doubling our assembly line, we reached a new manufacturing evolution milestone. We currently have the capacity to produce 100 boxes per day for GC projects, maintaining our high quality standard” reported Deodato Vicente, general director of Weidmüller Brasil.

“Globally, we have a team of more than 30 engineers dedicated to developing high-quality products and solutions, taking into account the particularities of each installation, thus guaranteeing an excellent return on the investment made”, added Vicente.
