The 5th Special Border Platoon (5th PEF) will receive a second photovoltaic project, located in Auaris (RR). The installation will be carried out by the 6th Construction Engineering Battalion (6th BEC). The objective is to promote the development of the unit.

The second photovoltaic project, the AUARIS II, is sponsored by the Protected Amazon Army Strategic Project Resources and parliamentary amendments, in addition to the provision of air transport for materials and inputs.

The photovoltaic energy plant, with an off grid system, must meet the electrical energy demand needed by the unit, which will become independent of air transport of diesel oil used to supply generators.

In addition to cost reduction and stability of electrical energy generation, the installation foresees the development of operability and better logistics performance of the 5th Special Border Platoon of Roraima (5th PEF/C Fron RR/7th BIS).

AUARIS I

In February 2021, the unit received a modularized energy storage system, installed by the 6th Construction Engineering Battalion (6th BEC). The plant has 198 kW of installed power and has two inverters ATESS HPS50.

According to equipment manufacturer, the inverter features an efficiency of up to 96% and supports up to 600 kW of system capacity. The inverter consists of an MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) device with a voltage of 480V to 800V DC.

“It is an easy solution to export power limitations,” stated the manufacturing company, adding that “customers can set the export power according to local regulations through the inverter’s LCD.”

The inauguration of the photovoltaic installation took place on February 2, by Estevam Cals Theophilo Gaspar de Oliveira, army general and military commander of the Amazon. The event was attended by Marcelo Pereira Lima de Carvalho, commander of the 2nd Engineering Group and Adriano Fructuoso da Costa, brigadier general and commander of the 1st Jungle Infantry Brigade.

Also present were Carlos Evando dos Santos, lieutenant colonel and commander of the 6th BEC and Luis Antonio de Almeida Júnior, lieutenant colonel and commander of the Roraima Border Command of the 7th Jungle Infantry Battalion (C Fron RR/7° BIS) .

  1. Dear Stella, good morning!

The person writing to you is Andryo Amorim. Congratulations on the article!

I work with solar energy in the state of Pará. I would like more details about the plant that will be installed in the border battle. What is the autonomy of the battery bank and what are the priority loads? Is it possible to have access to the plant project?

    Best Regards.
