A Aegea and Brazil put four photovoltaic plants into operation in Oeste Solar Parque. Occupying an area of more than 13.5 thousand km², the projects total 1170.1 kWp.

With the inauguration of the projects, Oeste Solar Parque totals eight units to meet the energy consumption of the Aegea units in Mato Grosso.

Currently, Aegea operates in the private basic sanitation sector in Brazil, while Brasol – which has the participation of 49% from Siemens – operates with Photovoltaic DG (distributed generation) in the EaaS model (Energy as a Service).

Already the Oeste Solar Energia enter as project developer and carries out full EPC (contract model), that is, it will deliver the turnkey generator working to the companies.

“Brasol continues to generate clean and renewable energy for Aegea, which is the company that will use this product for many years, thus bringing a lighter carbon footprint to the entire water distribution sector”, he pointed out. Tiago Vianna, CEO of Oeste Solar Energia.

In evaluating David Taff, director of investments in Brazil at Siemens Financial Services and advisor to Brasol, this is a growing trend among companies that opt for renewable energy sources as a strategy to protect against the increase in the cost of electricity and to meet corporate sustainability goals.

“Brasol has a different proposal for distributed generation as a financial product. In this remote self-consumption model, energy is made available to the customer more cheaply”, highlighted Taff.

The distributed generation subdivision is located at km 9 of Estrada da Guia, in Cuiabá (MT), and has 200 hectares. The new plants of Águas de Paranatinga, Águas de Barra do Garças, Águas de Pedra Preta and Águas de São José are now added to Águas de Poconé, Águas de Primavera do Leste, Águas de Sinop and Águas de Campo Verde.

Along with the delivery of these photovoltaic plants and more units in Rio de Janeiro and Amazonas, Aegea and Brasol are exploring other partnerships, including the application of Siemens Smart Infrastructure's intelligent monitoring systems to bring greater efficiency across all of Aegea's operations.

EaaS Modality

In August last year, Brasol and Aegea signed an EaaS contract, where Brasol committed to investing 100% of capital, ensuring savings in energy costs.

Currently, Brasol plans to apply the EaaS business model to a wide range of Siemens projects, in addition to providing important savings and other benefits to large commercial and industrial energy consumers.

“We are interested in helping Aegea and all our customers find savings and efficiency across their portfolio, using data to create energy intelligence. And this is just the beginning,” he commented. Ty Eldridge, Founding Partner and CEO of Brasol.

“Advancing this partnership with Brasol is very gratifying for us. Energy is the main input used in our operations and the adoption of clean sources that contribute to reducing emissions into the atmosphere is a priority for Aegea”, highlighted Emerson Rocha, manager of Energy Management and Energy Efficiency at Aegea.

The company has advanced in solid partnerships and already has distributed generation projects in operation and implementation in 10 states.
