ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) promoted public hearing 23/2021 this Wednesday (6) to present the proposal to regularize the application of tariff sandboxes (pilot projects). The event was broadcast on the Agency's YouTube channel.

The hearing was chaired by Sandoval Feitosa, director of ANEEL and rapporteur of the proposal. Six agents from the electricity sector, representing distributors, associations and consumer councils, also participated in the event.

“We are sure that the innovations will certainly bring tariffs that are more in line with the reality of the electricity sector that is looking for more technology and more services for the consumer, especially in energy distribution”, highlighted Feitosa.

The Agency's measure will allow personalized formatting of electricity prices for low voltage consumers (group B), users of electric vehicles, distributed generation and accessible storage systems.

The proposal for the development and application of pilot projects that involve differentiated billing by distributors is made up of three lines of action:

  • The establishment of a normative resolution with general guidelines for creating tariff sandboxes;
  • The creation of an R&D Pilot Project (Research and Development of the Electrical Sector), with the objective of managing, organizing and monitoring the results of the sendboxes;
  • Carrying out public calls to encourage the implementation of sandboxes by energy distributors.

The project is part of public consultation No. 049/2021, which remains open until October 13th. Contributions can be made via email to [email protected]. Access documents related to the public call clicking here.
